Natural Remedies for Common Issues

Sometimes we don’t feel well, and often when that’s the case, we reach for our medicine cabinet. Unbeknownst to many of us, however, there are natural remedies that we have in the house already. Consider some of these natural remedies for some common ailments and illnesses:

  • Cold or Flu: the greener the better. Dark, leafy greens are a great source of Vitamin C which can help prevent and help you bounce back from a cold or flu. Vitamin C is nature’s best defense against colds and flu, and the bacteria that come along with them.
  • Cramps or PMS: Magnesium rocks! This nutrient helps ease the body and helps keep things relaxed, preventing and lessening cramps and pain associated with a woman’s menstrual cycle.
  • Indigestion or Food related upset stomach: Mint. Peppermint in any form. -Plain, tea, oil, are all great remedies for indigestion or nausea.
  • Weak nails: This is one of coconut oil’s strengths
  • Dry Skin: Honey is the sweetest solution. It can be applied directly on the skin, and is a great source of moisture. And it also soothes skin.
  • Headache: Peppermint oil. The oil is applied to the skin, and creates warm skin and helps relieve a throbbing head.
  • Stress or anxiety: Essential oils. Lavender, citrus and other oils are known to have soothing properties. An oil diffuser is a great investment to make your home more soothing, relaxing and better for your mind.
  • Hangover: A banana. Bananas help re-balance your potassium levels after a big night out.
  • Acne or break outs: don’t bother spending a fortune on specialty creams and treatments, apple cider vinegar is just as good, if not better than drug store fixes. Apply the vinegar to any or all pimples to help reduce and remove the spot.
  • Hiccup: another one that apple cider vinegar helps.
  • UTI: cranberry juice is one of the oldest tricks in the book.
